Popup Arthouse Exhibition in New Delhi
October 15th, 2009
I am very proud to announce that some of my work was chosen for the current Popup Arthouse Exhibition in New Delhi.
Here is in short what it’s all about:
“Pop-Up-Art-House :
’5 Days to Make an Art Exhibition’ OR ‘How to smack the nuts of artsnobs’
Pop-Up-ArtHouse is an art experiment that pitches a team of non-traditional curators against a mad deadline.
With 5 days to conceive, invite, curate and realize the exhibit, Pop-Up-ArtHouse is as much an exercise in adversity-driven creativity as it is an immersion into the contemporary practice and appreciation of art. It is also a chance to unlearn some of the perceptions one may have about the arts in general.
The curatorial team leveraged social networks, spammed creative communities and sweet talked their way into almost 300 works of art as submitted by their creators inside of 3 days. The remaining 2 days were used to curate the art itself – reaching (or not reaching) a consensus on the approach to selection and presentation of the works.
Pop-Up-Art-House questions curatorial practices that often bring a self-centred order to what could otherwise be a far more vibrant, organic and aesthetically challenging composition of artists and their pursuits. The curatorial effort in this project is skewed towards the creation of a curated platform, moving away from curatorial themes that revolve around the content of art.”
